Fiat launches Linea below Rs.6 lakhs

Fiat will be launching the Linea Classic in New Delhi and it is nothing but a stripped down Linea. The Linea will be re-positioned under the name 'Linea Classic' to make way for the facelifted Linea which in-turn will be launched towards the festive season.
The mid-segment sedan Linea T-Jet was first launched in the domestic market in 2010. This is one of the fastest growing segments in the domestic auto market.
Even with the cut price, the car costs significantly more than segment leaders such as Maruti Dzire and Honda Amaze, which cost Rs. 4.99-6.71 lakh and Rs. 4.92-6.44 lakh respectively. But these cars are below 4 metres long, and enjoy an excise duty advantage. The Linea is billed as the longest car in the segment.
"We are optimistic about our prospect in the Indian car market, which is rapidly becoming one of the major markets in the world," said Nagesh Basavanhalli, president and MD, Fiat Chrysler Operations India.
Price is expected in the range of Rs 6 lakh.
