Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary

Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary

Swami Vivekananda’s 150th birth anniversary celebrations and seminar will be conducted at Technopark
club house on 12th January, 2012.

Swami Vivekananda needs no introduction. Swamiji was one of the greatest spiritual leaders of the
modern world, a great lover of humanity whose unconditional love extended to all people without
any distinctions of caste, class, creed, race, region or religion. Swami Vivekananda is also
remembered as a great patriot, the first cultural ambassador of India to the West, who raised
the prestige of India in the eyes of Western people and changed their views about India with
the compelling force to truth.

The ownership right of the granite cot was on Sunday given to the Bharathiya Vichara Kendram
director and RSS ideologue P Parameswaran by descendants of famous scholar Manonmaniam Sundaram
Pillai, in whose home here, Vivekananda slept.

P S Ramaswamy, the present head of the family, exuded confidence that the Kendram would preserve
the monument with all sanctity that would remind the visitors of the life and contributions of
Vivekananda in the national awakening.

Swami Vivekananda was born in Kolkata on 12 January 1863.
