Maruti Suzuki launches new Swift Dzire at Rs 4.79 lakh

Car market leader Maruti Suzuki India Limited, unveiled its much awaited next generation all new compact sedan, Swift DZire, in New Delhi for northern markets on Wednesday.

The new Swift DZire is wider, taller, has a larger wheel base and is yet compact as compared to the existing Swift DZire.  The new Swift DZire is more fuel efficient by almost 7 per cent in Petrol and 8 per cent in Diesel.

The petrol variant of the sedan is priced between Rs4.79 lakh and Rs6.54 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is powered by a K-12M VVT engine that offers fuel mileage of 19.1 km a litre.

The diesel version is priced between Rs.5.80 lakh and Rs.7.09 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) and is powered by D13A inter-cooled turbocharger DDiS engine with a 7.8 percent improved mileage of 23.4 km per litre.

The 2012 Dzire comes with two tone interiors and gets wooden inserts on the dashboard. Like the Alto K10, Maruti engineers have made scoops behind the front seat, liberating a bit more room in the process. Powering the Dzire is a 1.2-litre K12A petrol and a 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engine. Both the engines are mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and a 4-speed automatic as an option for the VXi petrol variant.

This (investment) was over and above the Rs.550 crore invested towards new Swift launched earlier in this fiscal, the company said.

Overall, the new Swift DZire has over 150 changes integrated as compared to the previous model.
