The PSEB is known as Punjab School Education Board located at Mohali Punjab that was registered
under the Act of Legislation in 1969 with updated amended in 1987, 2000 and 2005. The main aim
of the board is to regulate the Study pattern in the state by prescribing the all details about
the study including syllabus, text books and other rules and regulations. Time to time board
revises the text books and introduces the all other needed rules to provide a better flow of

Punjab School Education Board came into existence through a legislative enactment in November
1969 for the development and promotion of school education in the state of Punjab. In 1987,
the Vidhan Sabha amended the Board’s Act to grant it autonomy. The scope of Board’s functions
is very wide and covers almost every aspect/stage of school education. The Board has been
entrusted with responsibility of granting affiliation to the private schools in the state
as per the prescribed rules and guidelines. The Board has affiliated approximately 2700
schools till date.
