Nation celebrates Atal Bihari Vajpayee`s 88th birthday

Former Prime Minister and one of the most popular and charismatic political leader Atal Bihari Vajpayee
celebrates his 88th birthday on Sunday. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, today, calls to the former Prime
Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and conveyed his greetings on the latter’s 88th birthday.

"Atal Bihar Vajpayee is receiving birthday wishes from all over the country. Everybody is wishing him good
health. Atalji is the senior most leader of Bharatiya Janata Party and will always remain our inspiration,"
he told the media outside Vajpayee's residence.

In 1942, Atal came into the political limelight, when he was detained during the Quit India civil
disobedience movement. After this incident he became very close to Syama Prasad Mukherjee, leader
of Bharatiya Jana Sangh. Vajpayee also supported Mukherjee in his protest against perceived inferior
treatment of non-kashmiri Indian visitors in Kashmir.

The UAD Minister further said that we should take inspirations from the ideals of the senior leader for
the comprehensive development of the society to make the country prosperous. BJP State vice-president
Dhruv Narayan Singh, Usha Chaturvedi, State secretary Rameshwar Sharma, spokesman Vishwas Sarang, Bhopal
Mayor Krishna Gaur, Bhopal Development Authority Chairman Surendranath Singh, Ramesh Sharma and hundreds
of other party workers were present on the occasion.

Bhartiya Janta Party is also celebrated Vajpayee’s Birthday as Good Governance Day. Besides this, BJP led
states also celebrates Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s birthday as Good Governance day.
