It’s getting to be that time of year when we look back at the year that was and make lots of
lists. The first one this December comes courtesy of search engine Google.

While the IRCTC (railway ticket booking) continues to top the charts of the year-on-year fastest
rising bracket, some of the newer interesting entries this year are the low cost smart phone maker
Micromax Mobiles and YouTube Videos. As the FIFA World Cup grabbed the real world attention,
netizens too showed the excitement catching them online.

TELECOM

•          Mobile and VAS services make up 20% of the queries followed by broadband and DTH

•          Nokia tops the Mobile Phones Category and Airtel biggest in service provider category

•          Popular activities are research about data plans, retail outlets, online music stores
           connected to a particular service etc.
