Free Laptops Ready for distribution to Tamil Nadu Students
Students of Tamil Nadu are hereby informed that the State Government of Tamil
Nadu is ready to Dispatch 97,000 Free Laptops for Students in the Academic year
2011-2012. As Per the Sources the Government has Planned to Distribute 9.12 Lakh
Laptops This year and had set the Target to issue 68 Lakh Laptops in the Next
four years.
Though contracts were awarded to six vendors in November, last year's floods
in Thailand, the major centre of manufacturing of hard disk, came in the way
of the vendors to agree to the original delivery schedule. Most of them had even
refused to commit themselves formally. Now, all these hurdles have been overcome
and the delivery schedule has been revised.
Tamil Nadu government’s free laptop scheme was launched on September 15th by
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. The Laptop Configuration, Specification
which is offered to Students really good. The Government has planned to distribute
9.12 lakh laptops this year and balance of 68 lakhs laptops in the next four years.
Nearly 6,600 HP laptops had been distributed on Sep 15th. Now nearly 97,000 Laptops
are ready for next dispatch to schools and colleges under Tamil Nadu State
Government Free Laptops distribution scheme. In Tamil Nadu distribution Process of
free laptop to college and school students for the year 2012 will be started soon.
The news says that 9.07 lakhs of laptop ready for distribution.
There are around 130,000 teachers employed in high schools and higher secondary
schools in Tamil Nadu. It would have been a good move on the part of the Government
to give a free laptop to every school teacher too as part of the scheme.
