Significance of Children’s Day
Children’s Day is all the more important for countries where we find thousands of children deprived everyday from their childhood by engaging them in child labor, where society is infested with evils like child marriage and dowry system. Even today, the Indian society is patriarchal and a girl child is deprived of education and other joys of life, which a male child has an easy access to. The backward interior villages of India still witness female infanticide. Children’s Day is one such day, which fortifies our resolution to rid our country of these widely prevailing discrepancies.
14 November 1889 – 27 May 1964 often referred to with the epithet of Panditji, was the first prime minister of independent India (1947–64), who established parliamentary government and became noted for his “neutralist” policies in foreign affairs
