Nokia is having problems, we all know that and CEO, Stephen Elop, acknowledged the burning platform the Finns are sitting on. Things seems to be worse than just a burning platform, according to analysts. Reuters is running a story claiming that Samsung Electronics Co Ltd will become the world’s largest smartphone maker this quarter, overtaking struggling Nokia which has lead the market since 1996. That’s what Nomura analysts said on Monday. Gartner analyst Carolina Milanesi is on the same page claiming that “if Nokia’s new phones are not well received in the third quarter and (with) the Galaxy S2 ramping up, Samsung might overtake them and become the smartphone leader in Q3″. According to Nomura’s analysis, if Apple keeps growing and Nokia keeps being, oh well Nokia, the Cupertino based company will overtake Nokia in the next quarter placing them at No3 in the world’s largest smartphone maker list.
