Elop: Nokia is not for sale
Nokias Chief Executive Stephen Elop fought more business fires on Thursday, denying speculation that the company is a takeover target after the Finnish cellphone maker said its chief technology officer would take an indefinite leave of absence.
Elop, who earlier this year likened Nokia to a man standing on a burning oil platform, told the Open Mobile Summit that the recent bid speculation is “completely groundless. Nokia is not for sale.” Meanwhile, Standard & Poor’s Rating Services hit the company with its third downgrade in a month.
